From Idea to Release – How New Features Come to Life at tech11

At tech11, we are dedicated to the continuous evolvement of our insurance platform. This ensures that we are able to deliver smarter, faster and more compliant solutions for our customers.

But how exactly does an idea become a real feature in our product?

Let’s take you behind the scenes. From the first spark to release.

Every feature starts with a spark

Innovation at tech11 can begin anywhere: from a customer request, sales opportunities, and insights from our team members.

Some ideas are small, delivering quick wins. Others are larger, complex initiatives with high business impact.

To keep focus and clarity, we differentiate between:

  • Minor Features: These are improvements that are both fast and easy to implement, and which offer immediate user value.
  • Major Features: Significant, long-term updates that require in-depth analysis and cross-team collaboration.

Both play an essential role in making the tech11 platform stronger and more efficient.

From idea to User Story

Every idea goes through a quick but critical assessment:

  • Does it solve a real customer or business problem?
  • Is it valuable for our users?
  • Can we build it efficiently within our roadmap?

If the answer is yes, the idea becomes a User Story — a prioritized item in our product development process.

User Stories are our structured way of turning business needs into functional innovation. They define what should be built, why it matters, and how it connects to our product strategy.

What qualifies as a User Story

At tech11, each User Story is designed to deliver measurable value to our customers.

These include:

  • New insurance features across all business domains
  • Cross-functional tools supporting insurance operations (e.g., task management, document processing, input/output management)
  • Legal and compliance requirements
  • UX and usability improvements
  • Refactorings with a clear business or functional purpose

Not everything, however, qualifies as a User Story.
We deliberately exclude:

  • Purely technical refactorings or performance optimizations (handled via our IPA board)
  • Changes to internal reference implementations or configurations
  • Personal research or training tasks

This distinction ensures that every User Story directly contributes to customer and business value.

From Story to Release

When a User Story reaches the DONE stage, it becomes part of our product.
The feature is documented in the release notes and will be shared with customers as part of the next update, thus becoming part of the real user experience. Transparency is key: every release note reflects how our platform evolves and how we continuously improve for our users.

The result: smarter features, faster delivery

This structured approach allows us to innovate continuously by combining business focus with engineering excellence.
The result? Our company is committed to providing our customers with smarter features, faster delivery, and a platform that always evolves to meet their needs.

At tech11, innovation is not a one-time undertaking — it is an ongoing process.
From idea to release, we make sure every step delivers real value.
